I ha:rolleyes: ve a Class A that due to gas prices I have parked at a local campground.
Just sitting there the coach underside seems to get more rust on it. Any ideas on how to prevent this? I was thinking of laying down some heavy duty plastic sheeting under the coach.

Not living in a high moisture area I will try an offer a couple suggestions.
(high humidity is 30% and 5" rain a yr, is time to build an ARK)

Now being your RV is parked in a campground you are limited as to what you can do. Here is a couple suggestions.

1)Rust is caused by moisture contacting bare unprotected metal. I would suggest first cleaning the rust off and then applying a good coat of high quality paint or a professionally applied undercoating.

2) I would not recommend any type of solid material that does not breath. Plastic sheeting will not breath, it will not allow water to penetrate down into the ground below. IT will condensate moisture on top of it and make the problem worse.

3) If you want to place some type of barrier on the ground, go to a garden / nursery supply and buy moisture barrier fabric. It allows water to go through it, but it prevents weeds and moisture from coming back up.

Now hope fully others that live in an area that has high humidity and rain fall will offer opinions on how they resolve the problem.

POR 15 is a paint product that you apply directly over the rust and it encapsulates it, removing the moisure from the metal to cure the coating. Once it is on, it is very hard and very slick. You cannot paint over it because nothing will stick to it.

Do a Google search for a supplier.

I bought a used class A, and it has some surface rust underneath. I found a product made by Gemplers that is a spray on. It is designed to attack the iron oxide (rust) and make a coating over the metal that essentially inhibits further rust. Might want to look into it.
