We're going to be bringing our 2001 Mountainhigh Coachworks Pinnacle home next week. Four of the tires were replaced last year the rest were replaced at some point before that. Should we get all the tires replaced at the same time. Also what is a good tire to get. Any favored over another or any less expensive and what can we expect to pay for tires if we choose to replace them all. I understand every five years is the norm. Any rubber roof cleaning suggestions and how do we shine up the gel coat finish. Any special product or tecnique and has anyone ever replaced the tape graphics or is there a way to refresh them, ours seem to be a bit lifeless.
Thanks,
rvmamaw

Meguires makes a Marine/Rv Polish for gelcoat. I have used there Nex-generation polish on my coach because it is full body paint, and that polish is fantastic, so I would think the one for gelcoat would be just a good. Go to their web site and check it out. They have a 800# and you could call them for any questions.

I've got a 2001 MHC Residency 3790. I replaced the 4 drive axle tires a couple years ago trying to eliminate an out of balance condition. I've finally narrowed the cause down to a bad hub from Dexter Axle on the tag. I'd feel safe replacing the tires axle by axle. I'm going to replace another axle set this year and the last one next year. The guideline for replacing them is 5 to 7 years depending on the condition of the sidewalls. Goodyear recommends not letting them set for long periods. Exercising them keeps the tire compounds active. Protect them from the sun.

Our MHs came with Goodyear's G670RV tires. That not a bad tire and there are several other that work good. Stay away from the Michelin XRV tires. A friend with another Residency is very pleased with his Bridgestone R250 tires.

I clean the roof with Murphy's Oil Soap which is recommended by the material mfg. It's a TPO material sometimes called BriteTex (not rubber).

I've kept my decals looking like new with an occasional application of Protect All. I hardly ever wash it. Just spray the Protect All on and start wiping. It cleans and waxes at the same time. Protect All also has a gelcoat restorer product if the previous owner has let it get hazy. It will also clean any stains from the gelcoat.

I use the Protect All to help with cleaning the bugs off each day after traveling. It helps to loosen them. It cleans the gelcoat, rejuvenates the rubber around the windows and acts like Rain-X on the windows. Use it on everything, top to bottom - my graphics still look like new. My unit sets outside all the time and I have to say, it looks pretty good for being 6 years old now.

My SeGi windows are another story. The seals in all the windows that face south during winter have failed and look like snakes as the creep around inside the panes.

Good luck with your Pinnacle, we still like our Residency better than anything else we've seen and plan on keeping it for many years to come.

Thanks so much. Your info has been a tremendous help. I confer also with another Residency owner and he as well is very happy with his MH and has been incredibly helpful. We now need owners manuals as they were not with the motorhome and then we should be good to go. Thanks again.Safe traveling.

I've found owner's manuals for all the applicances and equipment online at their individual websites. The only I can remember getting from another MHC owner was the slide out mechanism. I couldn't figure out how to move the slideout manually. The secret is - you need to loosen the brake assembly on the end of the motor before you can use the crank handle. If you can't find a manual online, let me know in PM and see if I've got a copy to send you in PDF format.

Hi Mary & Barry, just to let you know, I'm lurking, well actually just recently joined this forum. Re tires, I'm rather partial to Bridgestones, just replaced 6 in January. I bought the R250F series load range "G", pretty nice tires. Sorry, can't help on the decal problem, having some of those myself, you know hot sun in the desert area really takes a toll on the decals. You can get 3M marine polish at Wal-Mart which works really good on the gel coat (sp) also sirbill's suggestion of MeGuires is good stuff.

Happy travels, Jim
