Need ideas for a hook up to the "skin" of an RV, to attach to the overhead TV area of a Class C RV. Purpose: Quick hook up of a coaxial cable for a portable satellite dish.

Not 100% sure of your question. Are you wanting to use a cable tv cable that is already installed for satellite, or are you trying to set up a new cable for satellite use?
If your wanting to install a complete new cable, just run a length of RG6 from your receiver to what ever point you want to exit the RV. When you get to the point that you wish to exit the RV, you have a couple of choices, you can run a flat ribbon out a window (available at most RV supplies), or you can purchase a bulk head connector to exit through the side wall of the RV, (bulk head connector will leave just a cable connection on the outside). In either case you will then be able to hook your cable from there to the satellite dish.
If your wanting to use an existing cable tv connection then just follow these instructions.

Hi justretired
I have the same questions, from your question, as whodo. If your asking about using the, factory wired, "cable" enterance, DON'T DO IT. It goes through splitters and that won't work. It could be rewired but then you could not hook up to a parks cable system. Sometimes they have special information channels that you want! You need to run a new dedicated entrance. You can get very nice entrance plates from RV parts suppliers. Chose a location, on the outside, where you can drill a hole through to the inside of your RV, that will come out in a cabinet. (Best if it comes out in the entertainment cabinet) You will need a piece of RG6 coax cable to run from the entrance to the satelite rcvr. Mount the entrance plate "bluk head entrance" and run the cable to the set.
Good luck & happy camping
