When we went to mammoth caves several summers ago we stayed at Moutardier Corp of Engineers campground on Lake Nolin. It was about 25 miles from the cave but was one of the nices parks we ever stayed in. You can get info about this park at http://www.recreation.gov/campgroundDetails.do?subTabIndex=0&agency=nrrs&parkCode=mota

Hope you enjoy the caves.

Hi Faith
Mammoth Cave area is our home town. We are full-timers but came from that area. In Cave City, there is a VERY nice cmpground called Cave Country Campground. Excelant FULL hook up including Wi Fi. It is on the far end of the road that McDonalds is on. There is also a Jelly Stone park, nice but old and $pricey$ as are all Jelly Stones. At Park City, there is "our home park" called Diamond Caverns. It is a membership park but they do accept the general public (abt. $35/nt.) It is also in Coast 2 Coast and RPI This is a very nice park and an interesting experance if you have never been exposed to membership camping. While there, be sure to go up to "KY Down Under" at Horse Cave. It is like walking into Australia. If you like "theater" check out the Horse Cave Theater. To the south is Bowing Green, KY All the Corvet cars are made there and you can tour the plant and national meusum. In general, KY is dry (no booze) but Bowling Green is "wet" and Cave City has drinks by the glass, no package stores.

Hope you find this usefull.
