 Question/?? How do you by-pass a travel trailer holding tank and go directly in to a septic system? Help someone!!!!! we have been rving for ten years, i have never seen a
by-pass on the holding tank. just let them get 2/3/ full and dump them
in the septic system. or you could remove the holding tank and pipe into
the septic system.

Just leave the valve open. Recommend a power back flush device sold at campers world for aroung 20 bucks. This is a clear plastic fitting with a hose and valve hook up that lets you back flush your tanks and also see if they are draining properly. We have a factory installed spray flusher in our black water tank but this device works much better!!. Good Luck ( think this is one on man's greatest invemtions for RV"rs)

We have been camping for 35 years and do not recommend that you leave the black water valve open while using the tank!!!!! The solids will accumulate and plug the tank if you are not careful.

We recommend that you let the tank fill to the 3/4 level then dump and flush. Close the valve, add a couple of gallons of water and chemicals.

You can leave the gray water valve open but you will need to flush that tank on a three week or monthly cycle to make sure that the food that remains get flushed out or it will start to smell really bad. We generally keep our valve closed and it gets opened every couple of days when we are on the road. This lets the water that is in the tank sloosh around and clean the walls.

ENJOY!!

Short of removing your black tank and plumbing directly from the w/c you cannot bypass the tank. As others have implied, to park for extended periods, your best bet is to let the black tank fill to 3/4 or more and then dump it, lest you want little mounds of "pooh" (as the guy from dirty jobs says) accumulate in your black tank and cause you more grief later on. Additionally, you really need to flush (with hand flush wand or built in flush system) the black tank at least every other time you dump... best if you do it every time..
