How should a King Dome Satellite System work? I had an automatic stationary system installed, they had trouble gettilng it to work at Camper World, when I got home it would not lock on a satellite. The dome is noisy when operating, the new power supply was replaced once at Camper World and I think it is not working now. What should I expect from the system. I expected to press a button and the dome would lock on a satellite as per the instruction manual. Am I expecting to much?

Darwin,
I have a Kingdome stationary automatic. I like it and it works fine now that I know how to operate it. The procedure I use is to first turn on the TV, than the satellite reciever and finally the Kingdome. Push the button for Kingdome search for at least 4 seconds and you will hear the motor in the Dish began to hunt. Do not touch anything until the green light comes on steady indicating that it has found the satellite. Be patient as it hunts as sometimes it may take as much as 5-10 minutes to find the satellite. Allow it to do its thing. If you do not have a clear shot to the satellite, the Kingdome will fiinally give up and the red light on the Kingdome control box will come on which means that something is blocking a view to the satellite. I have found that the Kingdome will always find the satellite if there are no obstructions in its way. The important thing is to not touch anything while the Kingdome is searching. Let it do its work. By the way, it has a few times taken even 15-20 minutes to find the satellite but eventually it did. Remember, when the green light is lit steady, it has locked on to the satellite. Allow a couple minutes for your satellite receiver to download the menu and you should have a picture. It is possible that the Kingdome locks onto the wrong satellite. If that happens, you will simply not get a picture. Hit the search button again for at least 4 seconds and it will try for the next satellite.

I have checked everything, including calling King Dome. They agree that it appears to be a programing problem. When I could not get the system to work at my house I drove to a parking lot, ran the generator for approx 30 minutes, I watched the signal strengh indicator, it never locked on anything, the red light never stopped blinking. Once in my driveway I got approx. 75% signal strengh on satellites 110 and 119, it did not stop but keep searching. Later the green light came on, I could not get anything on the signal strength meter on 110, 119, or 129. I have an appointment to go back to the dealer.
Thank you for the reply, your comments are encouraging and I hope to have my system working soon.
Thank you, Darwin
