We bought an old 1979 truck camper. The ref works great on electric but when we put it over to gas, it didn't get cold. The blue gas light is on.
What could it be?

It would help if you posted the Make of the refrigerator. From what you describe it sounds like the gas flame is probably not adjusted correctly, possibly even the burner is clogged with debris.
Switch the fridge to gas and then go out and remove the access door from the back of the fridge and observe the flame, it should be a nice light blue in color. If not you may need to clean the flue and flame area of soot and rust debris.

Check and see if there is any ash on the burner and also check the thermalcupler (maybe miss spelled)
