Hello, my wife and I are just starting to research RVs. We hope to buy one in the next year or two. We went on a Alaskan cruise in May, aboard Holland American. It was fantastic ! We would go back tomorrow if we could. Our plan is now to buy a class "A" diesel pusher in the future and drive through Alaska, with our pets. I thought four weeks would be enough but, I seriously don't think that would be enough time. We bought a DVD called, "Alaska by RV". It was made several years ago but, very informative and showed many beautiful drives, animals, camp grounds, Do's & dont's. I can really see now that it would take around two months, taking our time. So, unless something changes, we'll have to wait until we retire to start our Alaskan Dream. But, there are many.........place's to see here in the lower 48, that would be a great time. We have discussed a way to do Alaska. The pet's & I would drive from here in Nebraska, the Dakota's, Montana, Canada then to Alaska and have my wife fly to Anchorage, pick her up their, do our adventure, have her fly home and "the guy's" and I will meet mama back at home. But still, I don't think we could fully enjoy ourselves in only four weeks, plus, that's a long way for me to drive with them dogs !
Anyway, I know I will enjoy this great web-site and look forward to chatting with all of you. I will have many..............questions, so, beware. ;)

Thank you,
Kevin

You've just broken my heart. lol !
Yes, looks like the Alaskan Dream will have to wait. We do not want to rush, the trip. Going that far, we had better take out time since it's so beautiful. I actually went on a fishing excursion in Sitka. Long story short, with 20 minutes left before we had to meet the bus to go back to the ship, I caught a 43 lb. king salmon ! Caption said he hasn't seen one that size for a while. Had it shipped back and we have smoked 15 lbs of the total 24 lbs of meat. Boy,........is it good smoked !
Alaska is "God's Country" to us !!!
When you have time, we would sure enjoy all you have to say about your trip, good & bad, and any photo's. You may email me anytime.

Thank you much,
Kevin & Patty

We went on an Alaskan Cruise last June, it was great. In our fifth-wheel, we lived in all 48 and a bit of Canada. Now, our dream is is Alaska in '08. Have taken a couple of classes at Life On Wheels on RVing to Alaska and are looking forward to it. Our challange, as fulltimers, is that we now have over 100,000 on our P/U andf fifth wheel and are not sure we want to undertake Alaska with them. We are still trying to puzzel that out.
Keep chasing your dream!

I agree, God has created a lot of beauty around the globe but, Alaska is absolutely stunning !

dadburnett- if your p/u is diesel, with good maintenance before leaving, I wouldn't be too concerned.

Ours is a gas P/U ...
As full-timers we find life changes rapidly. As we have to go from Oregon to MN in June and then to Alaska, we've decided to do the Maritimes in Canada and postpone Alaska for another year. We've not been in the Maritimes and have often heard of its beauty ...
Its all a part of the RV adventure.

The maritimes are wonderful and have been there several times. You will enjoy it. Do you plan to travel via Canada or USA to get there? Much to see and enjoy in all the provinces and the provincial parks are the only place to stay. Wonderful and great people to meet. PEI Is just terrific!
Enjoy!
