I just bought this small motor home. 1981 Rockwood, 23 ft. with a chevy 350 engine. After I replace seals and gaskets, plate it and insure the puppy I want to go to Alabama for the winter to be near grand kids. I can't find a campground near Birmingham for less than $400 a month, any suggestions?
Also the upholstery is all original. wow. And it cracks if you put your elbow on it. Poor thing is 26 yrs. old and looks new. But we all know that looks can be deceiving. I'm needing slip covers for the captains chairs at dinnette. Is there a pattern for this? Any suggestions on what to do with faded shag carpeting? kitchen is gold but cab area is green. I think it doesn't shed, just looks funny.

Maggie:
I purchased a 1985 Itasca Sundancer motor a couple months ago and have been remodeling the interior myself. The people who had it before me had take up the carpet in living area and started replacing it with laminated flooring (Not sure if this is a good choice or not yet - but I had to go with it). They didn't finish the area in the bath because I guess it was too difficult for them, so I had my son remove the toilet and I went all the way with the flooring.
Also, I recovered my bench seat cushions and recovered the back supports myself. (I own my own business - I make custom draperies and do some light upholstery). I also took out the swivel chair - the old cloth on it was kind of like yours and it smelled terrible - and I recovered it. It was a real pain the you know what - there were about 40 different pieces to cut and sew. Wish I had just spent the $300 for a new chair now.
Also, I took down all the window coverings and made new draperies and recovered all the cornices. I put silk roman shades in the bedroom and curtains in the cabover area. I actually bought seat covers for the captain chairs at Camping World (No way I'm going to tackle recovering those puppies!) and they look pretty good. I still have to make a new privacy curtain for the cab area and then I will be through with the makeover - other than a new paint job and my grandson wants me to get some spinner wheels. Not so sure about those spinners yet either.
Problem is I haven't had a chance to go camping in it yet.
