I have been thinking about purchasing a new RV but I currently look at what I want and what I can afford are two other things right now. The other night I came across a website that auctions of reposed RVs and other stuff. Prices look really low and I wanted to see what everyone else's ideas and opinions were on buying a reposed RV.

The site I found was http://www.mrc-auctions.com

The positive to buy reposed is I can afford RV then much easier. I will need a new one for race season next year.

A repo is fine but buy nothing without looking it over really close. If you go through a dealer you have some recourse but may find it hard through an auction house if something is seriously wrong.
I bought a used motor home, it had some things wrong with it but they were minor and I could deal with it. Buying 2nd hand you don't get zapped with depreciation as hard as if new. Although a repo may not have any factory warranty left. Many things to consider.

Another thing to give thought to is if the owner would not make the payments he surely did not do the maintenance.

Hello,
Just to take the edge off for you we'd like to tell you our experience. We bought a repo 2000 36 ft. Winnebago diesel in June. Took it to an RV dealer who could find nothing wrong but to suggest the original tires (1999) and they will be replaced next week. The interior is as if new. The exterior is fine and just needed wax and that is done. We have no problem ob the repo we bought. Just be careful and eyes wide open.

We purchased a '98 Intruder as our 1st Class A in 2003. The price fair and we offered $3500 less and the dealer accepted our offer. The unit had been bought at auction and we found out later it was a repo. It was missing all manuals, sweeper, clock, fan on dash, VCR, & DVD player all that were listed as standard items on the coach package as listed when new. Also a fire extinguisher had been set off through out the coach (white powder in all ducts and in woodwork corners) at some time.

But the coach was very good to us for almost 2 years, just feel the person who lost it was ticked off a bit.

Hey Rvguy, if you haven't bought a RV yet give me a call @540-588-6006.
I have a 2007 Monaco Dynasty that I'm replacing with a 2008 Signature.

The Dynasty is loaded with almost every option you could get, and has only12,600 miles or so on it. The "Boss" decided that she wanted a bath & ahalf and Carolina RV gave us a really crazy deal so we ordered a new coach that will be here in Jan. If you want to see pictures I will be happy to email some to you.

All respondents make VERY valid points. Depreciation being the first culprit and poor dealer dealer support speaks volumes for buying used. As our friend said, do it with eyes WIDE open.
As much as we love our Monaco, I do not EVER see us justifying paying the dealer the large commission for new when there are so many great RV's with the first year headaches all taken care of by the first owner. Not to mention that huge off-the-lot drop in market value. As an investment? Used RV rules.

Is the Dynasty still on the market? My "boss" enjoys the bath & half and praises your decision to purchase the Signature. I'm sure your "boss" (assuming SHE) acknowledges the great partner she has?
Bath & half rules here too.

Hey pondman, call me @540-890-0942 if you are interested in the Dynasty. The coach is sitting at Carolina RV right now. The sig got in this week and they have a few things to take care of before we can close out the deal.
