I received this on another forum and thought I would share. During this summers travels, we have met about 6 to 8 "net" friends for the first time.

Enjoy..

We meet people from all around, from every walk of life.
Some we share our stories with, some we share our strife.
Some say our friends online, aren't really friends at all.
They're just words in a box, they don't have faces to recall.
Well, I have to say how wrong they are, there are many I have met here.
Some have shared my tears, others just brought me cheer.
But no matter what you may think, they are my friends, this is true.
I care for them like they are family, with all they say and do.
Some might say, they aren't true friends, these people aren't even real.
I think how really sad it is, that that's the way they feel.
They obviously haven't met someone, that really touched their soul.
That brought them happiness, tears and joy, had a way of making them feel whole.
So I am happy for this little box, the joy I get each day.
To visit my "peep's" gives me joy, from friendships that come this way.
So if you believe that these people aren't sincere, come meet my friends online,
For when we get together, we're sure to have a good time.
You need to meet some online friends, that you can believe are real,
So you understand what they give to me, and it's why this is how I feel.
My friends online are my extended "Family", and this is not a joke,
We can not choose our family, but I got to choose these folks!
So you see they are real, and the friendships are true,
And if you never get to see this, then I feel sorry for you!
You are missing some great people that are there to share in your life,
And who knows, you could even meet your future husband or wife!
So get online and make some friends, and share your inner being,
And let them get to know you, and how things you are seeing.
In sharing these things with "strangers", is how they become a friend,
And these friends will become "family" sharing a love that will not end!
So in answer to your question, "Are they really friends", this is what I say,
The people in this box are here for me, in each and every way.
As they know I am here for them, in all that I can be,
So YES they are really friends, and that's all that matters to me!

What a nice saying and how true. Thank you for sharing. I've recently joined myrvspace and I can honestly say I've developed some new friendships I would not had otherwise. This should me our motto! :)

boy this sure is true! thanks so much for sharing. I've found campers and RVers, what I call rollin' folk, are the nicest people in the world.

Sue,

It's true ... I have corresponded with several women in a dream forum since 1998 and we still keep in touch and share our dreams and what's going on in our lives.

Thanks for sharing.

THis is a great one - thank you.

Long before I went on the road I joined several online groups where I met some terrific people. When I started delivering RVs my internet time was severely curbed (laptops and digital cameras weren't what they are today - or even cell phones!).

When I got home I'd catch up a bit and received invitations to visit many of my internet friends if I was ever in their areas. I met many of them, shared a meal or two and watched a whole new world open up. Suddenly, being alone in my fifties wasn't so daunting.

Those friends are just as precious to me today. Now many of them journey with me by digital photo via a photo web site I've been on for a few years.

Now I'm a fulltime RVer. I meet new people daily and have formed many strong friends - but the internet keeps us connected with laughter and tears - but with a precious connection.

RVers are wonderful. We meet just when we're supposed to, and for the duration we're meant to. Every day we become teachers and students. I love this gypsy lifestyle!

Thanks for sharing the poem. The nicest people I've met have been while traveling. I'm a gypsy at heart I guess.

Thanx for the encouraging words. We (my partner and I) had our virgin maddden voyage this weekend. Traveled up to Lake Heron in Northern New Mexico to see some fall color. We only had 24 hrs to take the trip because for now we are weekenders in our new trailer but hope to make it more full-time in a few years. It was a good enough experience even the dreaded "black water emptying" went smoothly LOL! Hope to hear from some fellow female adventures soon"} Peace
