Hello All

We have just purchased a 2000 Monaco Diplomat and are researching an extended warranty. Any input on which ones are best? Which ones to stay away from?

We have quotes from both RVProtection.net out of Washington State as well as the CSP program from Good Sam Club.

Also, any input on who provides the best motorhome insurance coverage at the best rates?

Thanks

We purchased a extended warranty from Warranty Experts (http://www.warrantyexperts.com) for our 5 year old '98 Intruder online rather than opt for the dealer pushed plan at $1200 more.

It was gas powered coach, but over the 2 years we owned it we received $1700 more than we paid out in buying the plan. No matter what extended warranty you buy, remember if the paperwork isn't proper, they won't pay. The plan we purchased was a gasket and seals inclusive plan. Have the seller or agent e-mail or fax the policy/plan..check for items that are excluded and what is included rather than believe the agent's word. Also our plan had a $50 deductible per "visit" to the repair facility not per "repaired item". Since this is our home, we will buy a plan once the warranties are close to expiring on our Phaeton for peace of mind. $15,000 for a transmission or $20,000 for a engine is a lot of money vs the cost of $2500-$3000 for 7 years and 70,000 miles from inception of the plan, that we were quoted at purchase of the motorhome.

That's an almost impossible question to answer since there are so many different factors that go into determining insurance rates: State/county/city where the RV is garaged, type of coverage (i.e., *regular* RV insurance vs fulltimer's insurance), levels of coverage, your driving record and prior claims record, even your credit score, all go into determining YOUR insurance premium. No two people's insurance premiums are going to be the same even if they are insuring the same unit.

I'd recommend calling several insurance agencies that deal with RV insurance...places like AON, Miller's, Gilbert, et. al., and get quotes based on your specific situation.

Or call Progressive, Foremost, or Geico directly to get quotes.

STAY AWAY from CSP, I had a differential pinion bearing go out they paid $500.00 on a $3,200.00 repair AFTER I requsted a review. The claim was originally denied due to rust on the ring gear in spite of the fact that after a complete teardown the pinion bearing was clearly the problem.

In the words of Ralph Nader, "Extended warranties are a waste of money".
I use Progressive, I couldn't beat the full year rate.
