We're taking a trip up the coast of California, Oregon, and Washington. Anyone got any suggestions for campgrounds? We're actually starting in Ventura, CA, but we won't hit the coast until we get above San Francisco. Ideas?

If traveling up hwy 101 to hwy 1, I would suggest staying in FortBragg or the town of Mendocino. There is a nice koa, not far from the ocean, in Mendocino. We have stayed there before, a bit chilly at times, but nice. The town of Mendocino is a must to see. Have a nice trip.:)

The Oregon coast is easy, any of the State Campgrounds along the coast will be spectacular, just some are more so than others. Some of our favorites are, Harris Beach at Brookings Or. area, Bullards Beach at Bandon Or. area, Honeyman SP at Florence Or. area, Beverly Beach at Newport Or. area, Fort Stevens at Warrenton Or. area.

In 2005, we stayed at Benbow Park Campground neat Garberville. Has a nice golf course and its a great place for big rigs. Bolings

The Oregon/Northern California coastlines are indeed spectacular. However, beware of the omnipresent logging trucks as we had one try to force us off the road last summer while around Crescent City, CA. Although we put in ~5K miles over the road last July and August without incident, the speeding juggernaut hauling timber nearly ended our sojourn in lovely California abruptly:eek: ! By careful out there...and give the loggers a WIDE berth!

We have been doing the coast for the last 3 weeks. The weather has been cooperative until the last day or so. We stayed at Patrick's Point State Park and it was nice, especially the walk along Agate Beach. We also stayed at Sunset Bay State Park and combed the tide pools during low tide. The Passport America Lakeshore RV Park was very nice and clean with cable and WiFi, although I couldn't get it to work with my computer. The manager even came over and tried to help me get connected. AND just up the road was the Sea Lion Caves - the best part of our trip so far!

Hope this helps...
