Are there any states (state campgrounds) that honor this old age passport with discounts of any amount when you are NOT a resident of that state. Some private campgrounds will honor this card if you ask, but not many.
Thanks for all the information early.

The Golden Age Passport is a discount card for us "Old Folks" to use at a Nationally operated facility. I don't know of any State Parks that honor the card, but some might.

Now, if you go to a National Park, or a COE Park, they will give you a 50% discount.

I have been using the golden pass for better than 10 years at parks up and down the east coast and south west to California. I was interested in STATE parks if they have any incentive for OLD folks to use there parks with or without the golden pass?:confused:

OK there are a few State's that accept the Golden age pass, you should go to each states web site and check on there current policy. Most that do have restrictions like MD. This is a Quote from MD. SP website;
"Golden Age Pass -- Entitles adults, ages 62 and older, free entry (cardholders only) to all State Parks that charge service fees. The pass is also valid for half price camping Sunday through Thursday."
In other words it isn't any good on a weekend.
LA. & AR. is supposed to accept it as well according to there web site.
Some parks in SC do, but not all. Alabama gives a discount (very small discount).
When ever you make reservations or arrive at the Park, ask about getting a Age (Golden Age) discount. We have gotten a discount at a couple of Oregon SP and One in a Wa. SP even though they do not honor the G.A. Pass. As your probably already aware, your golden age pass is good at any Federal park ( BLM, Fish & Wildlife, Bureau of Reclamation, NPS, FS, TVA, etc.)

Hi there - we made the rather unsettling discovery that Florida State Parks charge - IF - they are run by outside concessions. Stop at Welcome Centers and State Park visitor centers for a list of those with 1/2 price discounts.

IF any of you love old steam trains and are near Scranton, PA - be sure to stop at the Steamtown National Historic Site. Free with your Golden Age Pass. Word of warning - you need two days to fully appreciate it. The Trolley museum next door - county-run, so no discount other than reg senior rate, has a great trolley ride for $5.

According to the Florida State parks website, Golden access is accepted at state parks operated by the state, which allows 1/2 price camping for disabled (you have to look at the bottom of the web site to find it and a lot of the rangers/gate staff are not aware of it), had not seen any hint of accepting the golden age. When i called to check on the golden access at the state park main office in Tall., they were not aware themselves that it was on the website, and the response was if it's there, then it has to be honored...

Louisiana for sure honors the Golden Age Passport. We leave this Friday and will be staying at Sam Houston Jones SP near Lake Charles. Normal rate is $18.00 we are paying $9.00 a night. A great deal!
