I'm from Fla., born and raised, travel to the Rockies once a year to hunt. Three yrs. ago we took the motorhome, a 30' class A, and experienced a little snow but not much. This Nov. we are going a little later in the season and it could be pretty bad... has anyone had experience with having to chain tires or is this unheard of in RVing. One year when we went this late season, we just missed the tunnel closing, due to heavy snow, by about an hour. We were in a 2wheel drive truck with chains and it did pretty good, not sure what the R/V will do, thanks for any advice.

I used the cable type chains on my 26 ft Class A 19.5 inch tires in the Sierras with good results: only on the outside duals. I think regular chains on my current diesel 22.5 inch wheels would be just too heavy for me now.

I am born and rasied in Canada and I live right beside the Rocky

Mountains and go there all the time. When you are travelling in the snow, if you have a good set of tires on your Class A, you will be fine driving in the winter. Just drive with a little bit of caution...and don't stop on the hills. Remember when going ndown hill, to gear down. It's never a bad idea to carry chains. Usually only truckers use them as they are hauling heavy loads on there trailers.
Don't be shocked when highways get shut down in the winter, we're used to it.
Just remember, when using chains, make sure they are NOT overlapping.

Take your time, and you'll do just fine.

Have a good trip

If you aare looking for some good deer hunting you might want to consider Mississippi the deer in our are are overpopulated to much so the Game warden was out several times this year trying to thin out the heard.
