We are newbies, leaving in January for the south. I have been worried because you can't have heat on unless slides are out. We heard from a friend they stayed at a truck stop and they were packed in so close could not put slides out and it was the coldest night of there lives?

What do people do, with snow and ice - we are worried about getting off the interstates to go on country roads to look for RV parks. Any ideas - we could use information from people who do head south in the cold, cold months.

Thanks

Until you get far south, you won't find open CG's. Why can't you get heat with the slides in?

Do you know if you stop at a Walmart parking lot if you can put the slides out so you can have heat?

Yes, I've seen slides out at Walmarts but it's not often. Why do you need the slide out, the heat ducks should be on the opposite side. I've traveled south in the cold and the furnice worked fine.

we have travelled in cold weather. You are not supposed to put your slides out at Flying J-someone might not see it in the dark and hit it..it just isn't good snowbird ettiquiet(sp) I have seen a few with slides out at Walmart, not many. some cannot get to the fridge without putting the slide out a little.
We have to do 8 hours our first day out of Ontario to get into Auburn Indiana where there is a KOA open all year. Nothing open in Michigan. After that, most are open..You can have heat with the slide in-just remember the blower is elec and will pull your battery down, but it will recharge driving the next day..
