Hi all... great to see a site that is laid back and fun. It is long overdue.... :)...

We are pretty new to RVing and were wondering what do people use to check out road information when they travel about? I know there are some fancy GPS devices that show you traffic, but those are limited to only large mteropolitans. We have used http://www.utraderv.com/roadreport.php which works great, but I wanted to know if there are any other sources. Thanks and safe travels!

I generally plan my trips on my computer using Microsoft Streets & Trips. It allows you to download the latest highway construction information for the roads you are using. I bring it with me on my laptop also so I can be flexible and change the plans when we want to. We changed our routes and destinations several times on our last long trip. 5 months & 16,375 miles from May 8 until Oct 12, 2006.

I have been using Street Maps by MS for years. It is great. I also purchased a Mio GPS for $150. It is a great supplement. Keeps you from going in the wrong direction. That is important when you get off the beaten path qith a 37 footer and a towed vehicle.

Hi, I use the Delorme Street Atlas USA software on my laptop, it came with a GPS receiver. It cost me $99.95 plus tax at Best Buy. It hasn't steered me wrong yet!
Happy trails,
