Does any one have experience towing a fifth wheel or a travel trailer? How well did it do?

I got to drive the Tundra towing a 10,800 lb trailer that you see in the Tundra ad on TV. They were making a nationwide tour with the 4 units that they had used to make the commercial. I was impressed with its power. I squalled the tires when I got on the gas pedal too hard.:D

Why not consider a dodge, chevy or ford. And save an American's job?
Have a dodge and love it.

I believe that the toyota is a 1/2 vehicle? What are theGVWR,GCWR and GAWR. Once those are answered and you find out the trailer GVWR and Pin weight then you will see why most pull with a 3/4 ton or better TV.

Also heard they are being recalled for frame problems. Have talked to some guys that have them and they are like 50/50 some like them and some don't. Myself I would stick with an american made product. Some will say they are made in plants in america I say yeah. Where do the profits go? Also what do the people that build this product get paid? No where near what their counterparts do and are punished when they ask for better working conditions or pay. Usually by elimination from their job.:mad:

"Stick with an American made truck?"
Last time I checked my geography, Texas and Indiana are still in America.
"Save an American's job?" What do you call the 35,000+ people Toyota employs in the U.S.A., not including the 25,000+ indirectly in dealers & parts vendors?
I drive a RAM 2500 CTD, and I love it. BUT, it was made in Mexico. Hmmmm.
And the $15.5 BILLION investment made by Toyota in the USA wasn't in sushi.
You don't have to drive a Toyota or even like a Toyota, but get your information straight. I don't think they're leaving anytime soon.:p

I guess you have not heard that the Toyota Tundra is the only american made truck in the US today. Look at you dodge, chevy and ford and you will find they are built in Mexico, canada, italy, germany, france, not in US.

We were looking at a Tundra, but I was told by a hitch installer that hitch packages were not available for the Tundra.

Pull rite makes a 5th wheel hitch for the new Tundra;
If you have a TT, it comes with a Class IV hitch from the factory.
I'd find another hitch installer.

hope you work for opec that 5.7 or 4.7 are bad. my son leased one and hates it gas mi. around 7-9 loc. I have looked at the tundra and didn, tlike the price your going to pay extra for there tow pkg. and a fifth is avail .but you better go outside to order it as the frame narrows at the point of attaching so a set of brackets are uniq.to this app.i,ll take my chev and 15k
-pull 8000 and get 11 pulling and 19 hwy. good luck. and do some looking first.

I have a 2006 double cab and tow a 09 29ft flaggstaff. Over 6500 lbs. I get 10mpg towing and 15.5 -16 mpg not towing. As far as power the 4.7 has plenty of torque for this job. It was made in texas not mexico like my last "american" truck that I couldn't keep axle joints in. Although the dodge did have 32,000 miles on it and it only had the front end out 3 times. I was impressed??? It was a 2500 HD! Drove it like a car and it still fell apart.Sorry for wanting my 34,000 dollars worth.
