If you only had one week in an RV and you had children 12 years old but wanted an outdoorsy place (not Disney,) but someplace that was clean, safe for children but where we could enjoy lots of outdoor activity, or some type of outdoor adventure and the children would absolutely love it, where would anyone suggest? We live in Fl. I want to take them some place interesting and that they will always remember.
Wheres the best & most interesting places to go?
We go to the smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge every year. We want something different this year. Any Suggestions?

MT. VERNON

Lots of outdoor fun, safe place to vacation, good clean air to breathe. Lots of friendly people, good fellowship and good eatin' too!! :)

Our boys love Asheville area-whitewater rafting, hot air balloons, fly fishing, hiking, waterfalls. Stayed at Mama Gertie's but other possibilities further out might include Cascade Lake Recreation Area in Pisgah Forest.
Also if you might be interested in Callaway Gardens in Pine Mtn. Georgia then consider FDR S.P. Lots of folks like Stone Mtn. outside Atlanta because it has endless recreation opportunities-my problem is that it's too close to Atlanta which I try to avoid.

You Might try Helen, GA. We have been there a couple of times. It is like a Swiss or Bavarian village and has river rafting and other activities. Not a bad days drive from North Florida.

Also might consider camping through Maggie Valley and Cherokee with the Indian village as a change from Pigeon Forge.

There are several places that come to mind. Great smokie mountains, Cades Cove. Lots of hikes, fishing, and rafting adventures. Williamsburg, Yorktowne, and Jamestowne. especially this year since it's the 400th annivesery of the founding of Jamestowne. I also agree with the other fella who suggested Mt Vernon. How ever I would add that there is a lot to see and do around DC and at twelve it would be educational as well. Since you have the White House, Capitol, Supreme Court, the National Archives where the Declaration of Independence is housed. Just to name a few. And there is a Nice RV park about twenty miles out of town in the Prince William National Forest so you have the hiking and fishing as well. Hope this helps.
