Camping in SE California

We will be experiencing Quartzite for the first time this January and then want to go into the desert in SE California. We would like suggestions on where to go and what to see.;)

Have fun at Quartzite ... are you there with a group of independently?
We spent a pleasant several weeks at Fountain of Youth Spa (RV Park) on the east side of the Salton Sea. Nearby is Salvation Mountain and a very rustic/unique RV boondocking site called Slab City.
