Default Water heater problem!

I have an Atwood 6-gallon gas/electric water heater with a faulty 12v tstat on the propane side. Can I take the 110v tstat from the electric side and use it on the 12v propane side for temporary use?

You didn't mention what year atwood water heater you have, nor did you mention if the electric was factory or after-market.
